I wrote the content on these pages to be used by friends who needed some help fixing up their computer. I seem to be doing this a lot lately and thought this would be a good solution to send people to, especially if I can't be around to walk you through the process. Enjoy!

Checking For Disk Inconsistancies
-
Press the key combination Win+R (the "Win" key has the Windows logo on it between the Control and Alt key on most keyboards). This will open the Run prompt window.
-
Type CMD and press ENTER. This will open a Command Prompt window.
-
Type CHKDSK C: /F /R into the command prompt window and press ENTER. At the "schedule at system restart" prompt, type Y and press ENTER. Now type EXIT and press ENTER to close the command prompt window.
-
Restart your computer now (before performing any additional steps in this guide). Your computer will automatically run the scheduled disk inconsistancies test and repair any issues it may find automatically.
